2nd Crosshill Scouts

A very interesting early photograph of 2nd Crosshills Scout Troop, note the lad 2nd from right back, he is wearing the Silver Wolf, Scouts that gained all Proficiency Badges were awarded the Silver Wolf before it became an adult award. Also the lad 2nd from right middle row and the lad 1st left back row proudly showing their King's Scout Badges.

latest Donations

Boy Scout Enrolment Card picturing a Sea Scout, Land Scout and air Scout. Signed by Sir Charles Maclean Chief Scout.
Charles Macleans full name was Charles Hector Fitzroy Maclean, Baron Maclean, he was awarded many medals and honours including the KBE and the Bronze Wolf the only award  made by the WOSM.  He was Lord Chamberlain to HM Queen Elizabeth II from 1971 to 1984 and Sadly passing away on 8th February 1990

The BSA Collection

The recently aquired Boy Scouts of America Collection contains mostly order of the arrow items from around the 1950s, with an Eagle Scout Woggle, photographs from an American jamboree 1957, merit badge certificates, various neckers and a water container stamped with the BSA crest. these items are a great start to the new international collection branch of the archives.

Archives Latest items




The Archives latest items include a 1950s Rover Scout/ Leader Shirt from 56th Manchester's Scout Group with Queens Scout Badge, Bushmans Thong, Tenderfoot badge, Lancashire Badge and Manchester Badge. This shirt was made by Bukta.




A Non spoiled Hike report Book, 1950s Boy Scout Pennant, Scout purse, Belt knife with image of a Boy Scout branded on leather made by Brusletto & Co, BP House plaque, PLs lapel badge, Second Class Award, Tenderfoot badge, 2 Ambulanceman badges, Missioner badge, athlete badge, handy man badge, electrition badge, Lakeland badge and a School blazer badge picturing a bird and a book.

 
Also there is a 1930s Wolf Cub Jersey with a Tenderpad badge, 2 service stars and grey six triangle. along with the Jersey is a Cub Cap with 2 starts and tenderpad, made by Umbro, Yes Umbro they made uniform as well a Sports kit.

The Archives have just been given some great items by a Scouting in the Ryedale District, who is a great supporter of the Archives. As well as the items pictured he donated a large collection of 1950s - 1960s The Scouter magazines and some of the first issues of Scouting magazine. another great addition to the collection.

The Fred Moore Collection, F Moore was a recipient of the Gilt Cross, Silver Acorn, Silver Wolf and long service award as well as being in the Royal Navy during the Second World War where he service in Italy, Africa, The Atlantic and more.
